Hello.. I have a 6.0 powerstroke with a 5 spd manual truck.. I've replaced multiple items that are not my problem..
I've replaced the FICM and momentarily thought my problem was resolved. The truck ran GREAT. only to drive it the next day.. problem still exists. No codes present, scan tool while driving the truck, is not showing anything that is"off"...For whatever reason, between 1600-2300 rpms.
I get what I describe as a sneeze.. light bit of black smoke, just enough to see in daylight. If I pick it up past that 2300 it usually good away. Everything on the scan tool is showing in specs. Boost is good, but during the issues(especially after warmed up) it's not showing anything the technician can see that accounts for the "stutter".. I'm throwing money and parts with the understanding .. it is supposed to be getting better..
I'm not sure if the pcm is my problem.. but when I put the FICM in it, the truck drove great on my way home.. then the next day.. issues. I'm wondering if I reset sobering when I disconnected the battery to install that replacement FICM. Do you think there's anything I can do at home to test the PCM on this truck?
Thank you.. Gary
